Russia's Orion tests 8K broadcasting over the satellite

Satellite operator Orion has started first tests of 8K television signal in Russia.
Tests are held on Intelsat 15 satellite at 85E. 8K test service is transmitted free-to-air.

Orion uses MPEG 4 part 10 (H.264) video compression for its experimental 8K broadcast. Along the video there is an audio track sent using AAC codec.

Orion's 8K test has a video resolution of 7680x4320 pixels with frame rate of 29,97. High@L6 profile is used for AVC.
For the 8K test broadcaster uses a ffmpeg software encoder. Service is simply identified as "Service 01" in the stream. Video bitrate is ~50 Mb/s.

Test channel shows Orion 8K promo and Samsung QLED 8K demo material in the loop.

Experimental broadcast is being displayed during CSTB trade show in Moscow. CSTB will last till 31 of January 2019.
